Bindery Supervisor

Job Description

Bindery Supervisor oversees the bindery department for the company. They are responsible for coordinating with team members to get the orders out on time. All cutters, folders and bindery team members will take direction from the bindery supervisor.  This position reports into the First Shift Production Manager.  This position’s purpose is to ensure all bindery/print jobs leave the building on time and accurately.

Mon-Fri, 7:30 am to 5:00 pm


Job Requirements

  • Coordinate with the day production manager to schedule bindery operators daily to accommodate the volume for the day.
  • Schedule training for all team members on the cutters, folders, stitcher, un coater, die cutter, laminator, and round corner machine. Follow up on existing team members to make sure they are accurately preparing bindery jobs.
  • Schedule training for new hires, and certify them when they are completed before they run on their own.
  • Be hands on and run equipment throughout the shift.
  • Sign off on bindery jobs before the employee begins the job after they give you 2 samples. QC the jobs throughout. Items to review:
    1. Print set up: paper size, printer, accuracy of layout, size, quantity of sheets,
    2. Cut size, accurate folds, proper stitching, etc.
    3. Review work flow
    4. Double check with design and mailing dept when unsure.
  • Check all finished jobs before they leave the building.
  • Assist with packing product up at the end of the day and make sure it ships out on time or is ready for client pick up on time.
  • Designate cleaning and maintenance for each piece of equipment daily.
  • Coordinate with the 2nd shift production manager for parts needed and service needed for bindery equipment.
  • Keep binder of maintenance and cleaning for each piece of equipment. These reports will be held onsite for 6 months.
