Tips for a successful political direct marketing campaign:

  1. Change the size of your mailing with a non-standard envelope or larger post card format.  No. 10 envelopes can get mixed with similar looking pieces.  Go bold and different! Try using a 6x9 or 9x12.
  2. Use color to stand out.  Envelopes can be designed to look like official government business or bright colors can attract attention to your campaign platform!
  3. Use postage differently to give impact to your outer packaging. First class is always preferable, but now there are lots of options with faux stamps and custom stamps that match your campaign.
  4. Repetition matters! Mailing just once will not going to be as affective as a multiple mailing campaigns. Keeping your face and platform in front of your target group will keep you fresh in your mind. Printing multiple campaigns at one time, though mailing separately, will also save you money over the long haul.
  5. Integrate your media! Utilize Microsoft Tags and QR codes to link voters to your website, Twitter and Facebook accounts. Integration will allow voters to learn more about you in the way they prefer. A post card following an e-blast is another great way of integrating media to reach voters.
